Help Stop Invasive Plants this Summer

Late summer is one of the best times to spot certain invasive plants in Laurel Park, because many are flowering or setting fruit. Taking a few minutes to look around your yard or neighborhood now can make a real difference.

Here are four invasives to watch for in late summer:

·       Autumn Clematis – a climbing vine with masses of fragrant white flowers.

·       Autumn Olive – a shrub with silvery leaves and red berries.

·       Japanese Knotweed – a tall, bamboo-like plant forming dense stands, white flowers

·       Oriental Bittersweet – a vine with yellow seed capsules that split to reveal red berries.

👉 What you can do:

·       Walk your property and nearby trails this month.

·       Learn to recognize these species — see photos below.

·       If you spot them and need help with identification or advice on control, reach out to us at info@laurelpark.com

Together, we can protect Laurel Park’s landscapes and ensure our parks, greenways, and backyards stay healthy and beautiful.
